Permit Alley Anglers Fishing Information

  • Permit - 8 or 9 wt rod, floating line, 10 - 20 pound tippet,
    Flies: turneffe crabs, merkin, and clousers size 6, tan, green and brown, year round in good quantity, March to May is best. Catch and release only.
  • Bonefish - 7 or 8 wt rod, floating line.
    Flies: turnefee crabs, merkin, deceivers, clousers size 6, tan green and brown. Catch and release only.
  • Tarpon - 10 wt rod, sinking line heavier for larger fish.
    Flies: turneffe crabs, merkin, tarpon bunny, tarpon toad size 1-4. Juveniles are year round in estuaries, adults May to September. Catch and release only
  • Snook - 8. or 9 wt rod, floating line.
    Flies: shrimp patterns, tarpon toad, tarpon bunny, poppers size 1-4, brown/gold, black/gold, orange, brown and green. More prevelant November to March in estuaries, lagoons and rivers.
  • Marlin - fishing is deep water, fighting chair heavy gear or 12-14 wt fly rod for the luckiest people. Year round, catch and release only.
  • Reef fish - spinning and trolling gear are used year round to catch many species. While we prefer catch and release, we also like to eat fish and customers are welcome to take home an evenings dinner that will graciously be cooked by the resorts kitchen.
  • Machacha - spinning and 5 wt fly rods, floating line, weighted lures and flies.
    Flies: streamers and nymphs size 6, blue, brown, green and white colors work good for this exciting freshwater fish caught from driftboat or canoe. Year round mild whitewater excitement.
